  • September 30: Root certificate used in WLAN expired, causing issues for many clients
  • September 29: WLAN access points in Pfaffenhof 2 relocated from storage room to hallway

  • December 1: WH-Netz e.V. transfers management of Filderbahnplatz dormitory in Stuttgart-Möhringen to Selfnet e.V. (in addition to the technology already provided by Selfnet since the last switch replacement in 2013)
  • August/September: Major outages due to servers compromised with malware (DDoS targeting China). Forensic analysis and complete server reinstallation

2014

  • Christmas: Quota increased to 2⁴⁰ bytes (1 TiB)
  • April 9: General meeting 2014
  • March: Every access switch on Campus Vaihingen now connected to two different core routers for redundancy
  • February: Introduction of SEPA direct debit
  • January: Virtual chassis of 3 core routers regularly caused routing loops. Problem resolved by dissolving the virtual chassis

2013

  • December 1: Nearly 15 years after the founding of Selfnet e.V., WH-Netz transfers management of new tenants in Allmandring II, III and Straußäcker I, II, III to Selfnet. Filderbahnplatz dormitory and users with existing leases continue to be managed by WH-Netz, but all dormitories are served through a unified administrative system
  • October: First Selfnet-managed dormitory equipped with WiFi
  • October 1: Heilmannstraße 3, 5, 7 dormitory (“Schwabengarage”) with 200 rooms connected to the network
  • June-July: Major issues with aging (and completely unmaintained) air conditioning in the Allmandring 8a server room. Temporary repair followed by replacement with ceiling-mounted units (with maintenance contract). Major server outages, but dormitory network remained stable due to prior redundancy investments
  • April 10: General meeting 2013
  • January 14: New service: VPN for members (ASA)

2012

  • December 24: Quota increased to 400 GB
  • October - January 2013: Juniper access switches to rooms replaced, connections upgraded to 1 GBit/s. Core network upgraded to 10 GBit/s
  • September 25: First members enjoy symmetrical 1 GBit/s internet connection
  • September 13: Extraordinary general meeting regarding upcoming takeover of additional dormitories and acquisition of new network components (replacement of all edge, core, and access routers/switches and bandwidth upgrade to 10 GBit/s core and 1 GBit/s access ports)
  • April 18: General meeting 2012
  • March 1: SelfStreaming launched. The offering grew to 80 channels over the following two years
  • February: MySelfnet member portal introduced for self-service membership management
